Today I was sad.

A poem

Today I was Sad. Yet I didn’t feel a thing.
No tears, no fears, not a sting
I sat still for a while, wondering why
This void of emotions, why don’t I cry

Numbness, walked in with dead silence
I won’t let you, it said. Not in my presence
Stunned; I went along with the day
Looking for a distraction to pass time away

Until quietly Strength spoke from within
Let go; let it out, there’s no other way!
I resisted, numbness persisted
And the day passed away.

The next morning, Hope came by
Believe; get up, it said. Retry.
No way! Go away! Was my sharp reply
How can I? For sure you lie.

Unrelenting it continued to pacify
Until I broke down. I began to cry
Gratitude stepped in, a perfect alibi
Embraced; I felt love multiply

Faith and Courage stood by
Confidently they said; never say die
Determined, I decided to once again try
Grounded; Today I reached for the sky.

What does your granny mean to you?

She’s my role model, my hero, my super star
My guide, my friend, my rock star
She’s my admiration, my inspiration… my only avatar!
Love you ‘Mumma’!

BIG SHOUT-OUT for NAKIYA GARARI

Woohooo!

Nakiya; our first real interaction was at my wedding. Your personality stood out and I thought of you as a (young) ‘lady of substance.’
Over the past few years, you have not only, with strength overcome your deepest personal loss but also a plethora of other challenging circumstances. To this day you stand strong, poised with grace and positivity.
You inspire me to look within with renewed determination adding an unshakable endearing perspective to life and living.
I admire your strength and I appreciate you for your un-shakable spirit.

Introducing the ‘BIG SHOUT-OUT’ series!

  What is that you ask?

It’s a special and unique way to acknowledge, appreciate or celebrate someone special in your life. It could be a friend, parent, son, daughter, partner, colleague or even a stranger who for a brief moment touched your life and inspired you in some way.
Feeling appreciated is one of the most important needs that people have. When you share with someone your appreciation and gratitude, they will forever cherish you. What’s more… you’re sure to feel good about yourself too.

All you need to do is inbox me your name and the name of the person to be appreciated along with your reason/s why. You are welcome to include a picture which I can tag. I completely respect your wishes if you’d like to keep their identity private. In which case you would need to provide me with an alias identity which ensures its reach to the desired person.
Take the time to tell someone “I appreciate you.”! Make their day, week, month, year… or even give someone their lifetime ‘wow’ moment today!

P.S. Appreciating in person is encouraged. This option is recommended as an additional way of applauding the person and/or when this medium of communication would significantly enhance the impact of your intention. The post will be featured on Personal Soul-utions FB page and blog.
